“But there are already so many coaches!”
Coaches are popping up like mushrooms these days. Should you still start working on becoming a coach? There are already so many coaches! Aren't you just the umpteenth in the list that has to come at the end? Of course not. If you have the right qualities, you should become a coach! Why and how? We are happy to explain this to you.
So many coaches without training
The title 'coach' is not protected. That's the whole point: anyone can call themselves a coach. And in fact, we are all coaches, because we unconsciously 'coach' our friends and family members regularly when they come to us with problems. But does that also make us a good coach for others? A real coach?
A good coach does his or her work with passion. From an enormous drive to help others. And from a thorough training.
Of course you can throw out some advice haphazardly and if you read a lot of books or scour the internet every day for effective coaching methods, you will learn a lot, but not as much as during a training course. A thorough, high-quality training that matches what you want to offer your customers.
And it doesn't stop there! As a coach you continue to improve yourself. You continue to update your knowledge and maintain your skills. You, just like your customers, are constantly developing. So the first step to distinguishing yourself from so many other coaches is your education.
What is your mission?
You also distinguish yourself by having a clear mission. You want to achieve something, and by that we don't mean a certain amount of turnover. Of course you want to make money from your coaching business, but that is not your primary goal. Your primary goal is to help your customers. Teach people something. Improving the world. You think big! But starts small.
By formulating your mission clearly and choosing a specific target group, you only appeal to a small portion of the people who are looking for a coach. Yes, you are limiting your potential customer base. But the potential customers in that circle feel very attracted to you. They don't want one of those other many coaches, they want you.
You are unique
With the right background and a clear mission, you are head and shoulders above so many coaches. Now it's time to show this to your potential customers! What makes you unique? You! You with your education, your mission, your face, your voice, your backpack full of experiences – everything that makes you you.
That's what your customers want to see. Of course, they will encounter many other coaches during their search. And yes, you are one of the many in the list. So it's up to you to stand out! Show who you are there for.
Don't try to appeal to everyone, but only to your ideal customer. The one who perfectly matches your mission, who can optimally benefit from your knowledge and experience. Show that person your face, provide a glimpse of your expertise and create a bond of trust.
And be patient. You are really different from all the others. It just takes a little time to convince your customers of this. However, once they have found you, they will no longer be able to keep you away. There are indeed so many coaches, but there is no one like you yet!
